Kmetija Lisjak Wineart is a family farm with a multi-generational tradition. An important turning point, a sort of leap into a new era of viticulture and winemaking, is the transition from the quantitative approach to the production of high-quality premium wines. The cultivation form of single Guyot and low yields (5-7 tons / ha) are an excellent basis for rich and opulent wines. With the introduction of new technologies, such as cooling of grapes in a cooling chamber, destemming with the state-of-the-art 'Pellenc' destemmers, hyperreductive oxygen compression, and fermentation at a controlled temperature, the varietal expression, freshness, and drinkability of white wines have greatly improved.
In 2010 a new wine label, that places emphasis on freshness and varietal expression, was introduced to the market.
Kmetija Lisjak Wineart wines may be purchased on the winery’s website or the online wine shop e-Vino and in Hofer stores.
In recent years, the family has restored and restructured all of their vineyards. Their age ranges between 10 and 30 years. Vines grown in categorical areas, sited on flysch terraces, are ideal for structural white and red wines. Lowland alluvial vineyards, on the other hand, offer excellent conditions for fresh white and rosé wines. The vineyards are planted with around 50% of red variety grapes and 50% of white grapes, which includes green sauvignon (sauvignonasse), chardonnay, malvasia, zelen, pinot gris, pinot noir, merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon.
Healthy grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. Using modern knowledge and new equipment, grapes are first cooled and processed in an inert atmosphere (without oxygen). Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. Wine produced is then matured on fine lees. White fresh wines are fermented in stainless steel containers and structural white varieties in barrique 500 L barrels. Red wines are matured in French and American oak barrique barrels. Among wines produced, the family is exceptionally proud of their Terrasses white and Terrasses red, which are made from selected vines, grown on steep flysch terraces. The wines are fermented and matured in French oak barrique barrels.
Wine tastings are held at the wine cellar by prior arrangement.
