Tourist Farm Kraljič

Our story

The Kraljič family has been growing wine grapes and creating opulent wines since 1965. As they embarked on this ambitious path, new vineyards had to be planted. The family’s remarkable success story, which has lasted for more than half a century, was determined by the Kamnovec vineyard. Being not only the largest vine complex on the farm, it is also a popular tourist attraction, as it offers an awe-inspiring panoramic view of the entire valley in all seasons.

The oldest wine vintage in the cellar is 2015. The Kraljič family is most proud of their red variety Barbera, which is greatly appreciated and truly valuable by their customers. The outstanding wine is also enjoying increasing success both at home and abroad.

Wines may be purchased Izletniška kmetija Kraljič estate. Delivery is possible. You may also try Kraljič wines at local taverns and restaurants. In addition to wine, home-grown peaches are also available.

Vineyards and wine varieties

The vines spread across selected eastern, western and northern locations, with a marly soil type. The oldest vineyard is dating back 28 years. Among the vine plantings, rebula (20%), chardonnay (15%) and sauvignon (15%) predominate, followed by barbera (10%), malvasia (9%) and refosco (8%). The varietal range however also includes welschriesling (laški rizling), green sauvignon (tokaj) and yellow muscat, planted to a smaller extent.

Production

The grape harvest begins in the early morning hours and usually ends around lunchtime. On rare occasions, the picking may continue after lunch, but only if the temperature is suitable. The harvest is indeed a task, but it is also considered a social event where relatives and friends gather to make this time full of pleasures.

Wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks. White varieties are then matured in stainless steel barrels, whereas red wines age in barrique barrels.

Tastings

Tastings usually take place on weekends upon prior arrangement. The number of samples and the duration of the tasting is adjusted to the guest’s wishes.
