Winners of the Mayor's Wine of Nova Gorica 2025 Competition Announced

The Municipality of Nova Gorica (MONG), in cooperation with the Tourism Board Nova Gorica and Vipava Valley and the Vipava Valley Wine Consortium, has officially announced the results of the public tender for the Mayor's Wine of Nova Gorica 2025.

This year's evaluation featured 10 local winemakers who submitted a total of 28 wine samples:

• 15 white wines

• 11 red wines

• 2 sparkling wines

The evaluation process took place in two stages. The initial round was conducted by an expert commission led by Dr. Dejan Bavčar from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (KIS), alongside experts from the University of Nova Gorica, KIS, local winemakers, and external journalist-taster Barbi Močivnik from Revija Vino.

The top-rated wines advanced to the final tasting, evaluated by a 13-member jury. The final panel included Nova Gorica Mayor Samo Turel, Head of the Mayor's Office Mija Lorbek, Deputy Mayors Anton Harej and Marko Trebušon, Director of the Municipal Administration Aleš Markočič, Tourism Board Director Erika Lojk, enologists, and local winemakers.

4. Mayor's Red Wine 2025:

   • Cuvee 2021 (Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot) – Tourist farm Kraljič

5. Mayor's Red Selection 2025:

   • Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 – Tourist farm Kraljič
