Selection of the Mayor's Wine of Nova Gorica 2023 Announced

The Municipality of Nova Gorica (MONG), in cooperation with the Tourism Board Nova Gorica and Vipava Valley and the Vipava Valley Wine Consortium, has officially announced the results of the public tender for the Mayor's Wine of Nova Gorica 2023.

This year's evaluation featured 14 local winemakers who submitted a total of 44 wine samples:

• 26 white wines

• 12 red wines

• 6 sparkling wines

The evaluation took place in two stages. First, an expert panel of official tasters led by Dr. Dejan Bavčar from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia evaluated the samples. The top-ranked wines then moved to a final selection round evaluated by a 13-member jury, which included Nova Gorica Mayor Samo Turel, Deputy Mayors Anton Harej and Marko Trebušon, local tourism and development officials, as well as enologists and winemakers.

3. Mayor's Selection of Autochthonous Variety 2023:

   • Rebula Barkola 2021 – Kmetija Barkola

4. Mayor's Red Wine 2023:

   • Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 – Vina Zgonik

5. Mayor's Red Selection 2023:

   • Rdeča Zvrst 2019 – Vina Berce
